Two reports now point in opposite directions on whether Dana White will take the press secretary job President Trump offered him on Saturday. CNN, through anchor Kaitlan Collins, reports that White has declined the idea — a source familiar with the matter says he turned it down. TMZ reports the opposite: that White will meet the President in the Oval Office on Monday to talk it over, after he returns from this weekend’s Zuffa boxing event in London.
White himself has still not spoken on the record. His only public response remains the Instagram story he posted minutes after the offer — a picture of himself standing at the White House press lectern, captioned “On to the next chapter.” The two reports cannot both be right, and until White or the White House says plainly where things stand, whether the offer is dead or still alive is unconfirmed. If the meeting TMZ describes happens on Monday, what comes out of it is the next fact that will settle it.

President Trump has offered the job of White House Press Secretary to Dana White, the chief executive of the UFC, and he did it in a Truth Social post that asked White to bring some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts into the press office with him.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” the President wrote. “I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!”
White answered within minutes — on his Instagram story, where he shared the President's post alongside a picture of himself standing at the White House press lectern, captioned: “On to the next chapter.”
Whether the President was joking is not yet clear. The post was written in his familiar announcement style and was amplified by the White House's own rapid-response account, but Trump announced only that White has been “offered” the job — not that he has accepted it — and the White House has not issued any formal statement confirming an appointment. Reporters have asked the White House, White and the UFC for comment.
White, who built the UFC into the world's dominant mixed-martial-arts promotion, is one of the President's longest-standing allies in sports and spoke in support of him at the Republican National Convention. The press secretary is the administration's public voice — the official who stands at the lectern each day and answers the press corps on the record — and the role shapes how every policy the government makes reaches ordinary Americans, which is why who holds it matters far beyond Washington's daily arguments.
