Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been banned from driving for six months and placed on one year of summary probation after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor hit-and-run in Napa County, California, prosecutors said.
Pelosi struck an unoccupied parked Tesla in Yountville, in California’s Napa Valley, on July 3 and drove away from the scene, Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley said. He was driving a burgundy Maserati convertible at the time, according to the criminal complaint, and deputies found him about half a mile from the collision site. The Tesla was parked and empty, and no injuries were reported.
On November 3, Pelosi appeared in Napa County Superior Court and pleaded no contest to misdemeanor hit-and-run and to a traffic infraction for making an unlawful turn. Judge Scott R.L. Young placed him on one year of summary probation and barred him from driving for six months, the maximum period allowed under the California Vehicle Code provisions prosecutors cited.
The judge also ordered Pelosi to complete a 10-day work program, pay court fines and fees, and report to the Napa County Department of Corrections for booking only by November 20. As part of the plea agreement, Pelosi paid $11,191.14 in restitution to the owner of the damaged vehicle, the district attorney’s office said.
Pelosi left the scene without identifying himself or leaving the information required under California law, according to the complaint previously reported by Fox News Digital. Authorities said no alcohol was involved in the July collision, and Pelosi was not arrested in connection with the case. Prosecutors said the public attention surrounding the case prompted the announcement, noting that misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving only property damage generally do not receive a news release.
It is not Pelosi’s first criminal case arising from a Napa County crash. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence after a crash in which the other driver was injured, and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined to answer Fox News Digital’s questions about her husband’s hit-and-run case.
