President Trump's firing of U.S. Attorney Roger Rogoff just held up in court. The 9th Circuit issued an administrative stay blocking the effort to put Rogoff back in the Western District of Washington job.
Rogoff was appointed to the post by federal judges on July 15. Less than an hour after he was sworn in, President Trump fired him — and the legal war over who actually serves as U.S. Attorney has been burning ever since.
The stay freezes the lower court's restoration order. For now, the president's decision stands — and the fight over the office goes on.
