A four-storey extension under construction beside the main church at Brother Ronnie Makabai's Holy City Entebbe Church collapsed on Monday evening in Kawuku, Bwerenga, in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso District, and rescue teams are still searching the rubble for anyone left underneath.
Uganda Police Force spokesperson Racheal Kawala said about 22 people had been rescued from the collapsed structure and evacuated to Entebbe Grade B hospital for treatment. Police said the rescue operation was still going, and that officers were working to establish whether anyone remained trapped beneath the rubble.
Preliminary findings, the police said, show the structure was an extension of the main church building and had reached the fourth floor before it came down. Investigations into the cause of the collapse are under way, and no deaths had been confirmed.
Joint teams from the Uganda Police Force and the Uganda People's Defence Forces worked at the scene through the evening. The Daily Monitor reported that the rescued were also taken to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital and Kisubi Hospital, and that how many people might still be trapped remained unclear. NTV Uganda reported that more than 10 people were injured in the collapse.

Brother Ronnie Makabai leads Brother Ronnie Ministries, which runs the Holy City Entebbe church. Neither the church nor the pastor had issued a statement on the collapse, and this is a developing story.
