Luigi Mangione ran for five days. On December 4, 2024, he shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in the back on a Manhattan sidewalk. On December 9, a McDonald's worker in Altoona, Pennsylvania, looked at the man eating in the corner, mask on — and called 911.
Altoona police walked in. He gave a fake name — Mark Rosario, the same name on the ID he used at a New York hostel before the shooting. Then he spelled the real one: L-U-I-G-I. An officer stepped outside and said, "That's 100% him."
In the backpack: a gun magazine wrapped in underwear. At the station: the 9mm, a silencer, and the notebook. The newly released bodycam compilation walks through the whole takedown — and the video's narration notes Mangione has pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges and admitted to fatally shooting Thompson. He's awaiting sentencing on December 18.
Five days on the run. One phone call. Over.
