DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin is making the Trump administration's position on immigration enforcement clear: living in the United States for years does not automatically erase an immigration violation.
"If you have been here five years or 20 years, you still broke our nation's laws," Mullin declared.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Mullin doubled down, arguing that enforcing immigration law "shouldn't be controversial" and that the government does not get to "pick and choose" which laws it enforces.
His remarks underscore the administration's focus on enforcing federal immigration laws regardless of how long someone has been in the country.
