Elon Musk is pushing back hard against claims from his first wife and addressing the public drama swirling around his former partners — insisting a widely shared allegation about his daughter's health insurance is false, and saying he'd rather be alone with his kids.
His ex-wife Justine Wilson alleged in Alex Gibney's new documentary Musk, in theaters since October 9, that Musk removed their daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson — formerly Xavier — from health insurance the day after she came out as transgender. The claim was amplified by TMZ's October 9 story on the documentary. Musk called the report false in a reply on X: "This is utterly false. At no point did I remove Xavier from health insurance."

The same day, responding to a supporter expressing sympathy over the insurance story and the dramas with Ashley St. Clair and Shivon Zilis, Musk wrote: "At this point, I would prefer to be alone and just spend time with my kids."

On St. Clair — the mother of one of his children, who has spoken in interviews and in the documentary about their relationship and an ongoing custody dispute — Musk was blunt: "Ashley St Clair was not my girlfriend. We only saw each other a few times."
Separately, Shivon Zilis, the mother of four of his children, announced earlier this month that Musk ended their relationship "with no warning," sharing recent text exchanges in which he had replied "Love you too."
The overlapping stories — the insurance allegation and denial, the public statements from former partners, and Musk's own posts — have fueled heavy social media reaction, with many posts framing the moment around his stated preference to focus on his children. Musk is a father of 14, and the documentary has put his family life under a microscope he clearly did not ask for.
