Elon's not even being subtle anymore.
A screenshot of Grok's welcome message shows Elon's AI greeting users with this: "Hi, welcome back! What's one thing you'd usually hand to ChatGPT? Send it my way and I'll take care of it." That's not competition. That's trolling in product form.
While Sam Altman is out here calling Elon a bully and saying he still wants to work with him, Elon's AI is out here openly trying to take ChatGPT's customers in real time. Peak "Scam Altman" energy.
The timing is hard to miss. Just days ago, Altman sat down with Vanity Fair and said, "I don't like bullies, and I think Elon's a bully," adding that once in a while "you got to punch a bully back in the nose" — while insisting, "I will work with Elon, of course." The two co-founded OpenAI together in 2015 before Musk walked away in 2018, and they have been firing lawsuits at each other ever since.
Back in July, when another account accused Altman of being "Scam Altman," Musk piled on himself, writing, "He takes scamming to a whole new level." Now his chatbot is doing the talking — greeting every new user by name-dropping the rival product and inviting them to switch.
Whether it is brilliant marketing or just Elon being Elon, the message is clear: Grok is not coming for the AI crown quietly. It is coming for ChatGPT's users by name.
Never miss a story.
