India and Pakistan summoned each other's top diplomats on Saturday after a deadly border shooting on October 2.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry says Indian Border Security Force personnel used "unprovoked lethal force" against two unarmed Pakistani civilians in the Bedian sector, calling it "wholly unjustified and grossly disproportionate," and demanded an "immediate, transparent and credible investigation" — rejecting any claim the dead were "infiltrators."
India rejected what it called "baseless and motivated allegations," saying it summoned Pakistan's envoy to protest cross-border infiltration — three people crossed into Indian territory in Punjab's Ferozepur sector and kept moving toward the border fence despite repeated warnings, so "the BSF was compelled to engage them for posing an imminent security threat." India linked it to a pattern of armed narcotics syndicates operating from Pakistan.
