Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday dared President Donald Trump to strike Iran again, hours after Trump warned that the United States could "soon finish the job" against Tehran.
"Last time you wanted to 'finish the job', Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too," Araghchi wrote on X at about 4:47 p.m. ET. He added: "Netanyahu is driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel—let alone POTUS."
Trump's warning came in his Truth Social letter endorsing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel's Oct. 27 election. "Unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job," Trump wrote of Iran. He also said that if Israel picked "anyone other than Bibi," America "will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so."
Netanyahu, presenting his updated national security doctrine to reporters in Jerusalem on Sunday, vowed to topple Iran's government. "We must bring this regime down once and for all. That is the directive I have given to all the security agencies," he said, according to Israel Hayom. He said his objectives "do not depend on American approval," adding: "To the extent necessary, we will also act independently."
Iran's Revolutionary Guards also issued a warning. Spokesman Hossein Mohebi wrote on X that any attack on Iran's energy infrastructure "will turn the occupied territories into scorched earth forever," referring to Israel. "The world will see what happens," he added.
