The Biden Justice Department and Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained personal data on at least 639,000 Republican donors, voters and supporters during the Arctic Frost investigation, according to a memo Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley released on Wednesday. The findings, built on whistleblower disclosures and newly reviewed subpoena returns, show Smith’s Special Counsel Office assembled spreadsheets on ordinary Americans — more than 148,000 of the rows identified as donors, most of them small-dollar givers who contributed as little as $1 and generally under $1,000.
The spreadsheets went far beyond names. They held dates of birth, home addresses spanning most states and U.S. territories — including the home states of every Judiciary Committee member — email addresses, Republican party registration, congressional districts, occupations and employers (the samples run from janitors and doormen to pool technicians, drivers and loggers), donation amounts, donor-analysis data, and even credit card information, down to the last four digits of card numbers.
"This update shows that Jack Smith and the Biden Justice Department collected incredibly invasive donor data — and voter data — beyond what could conceivably be necessary for Smith or his team to fulfill the Special Counsel's mandate. The new findings further corroborate that Smith and his partisan team aimed to map out the entire Republican Party apparatus."
The haul did not stop at donors. Grassley says Smith’s office also obtained the names of Trump campaign personnel, possibly including volunteers, a catalogue of Trump campaign products, and records of red MAGA hat sales — individual buyers, what they purchased, and the home addresses the hats were shipped to — material he says was shared with FBI agents. The data reaches back to 2005 and runs through 2021, which Grassley notes is well outside a probe whose stated subject was Trump’s challenges to the 2020 election. The memo follows his September revelation that Smith subpoenaed roughly 5,000 checks from Americans who donated to Trump’s campaign, and Smith's own testimony to the committee last month, where he acknowledged his investigation acquired financial information.
Arctic Frost, opened by the Biden DOJ in 2022 into efforts to overturn the 2020 election, later fed the cases against President Trump. Grassley has spent more than a year prying its scope loose through whistleblowers, and he used Wednesday's memo to invite his Democratic colleagues to join the oversight work "instead of trying to defend Smith and sweep his abuse of authority under the rug." Fox News Digital has reached out to Smith’s newly launched law firm for comment.
