At a campaign rally in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Alexis Nungaray joined President Donald Trump on stage and urged the crowd to vote, telling Americans who had not yet voted to go out and vote because it really does make a difference.
Nungaray thanked Trump for keeping her daughter Jocelyn's name alive and making sure her death was not treated as "just a number." She also thanked Jesus Christ for giving her the strength to stand before the crowd and share Jocelyn's story.
Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, was murdered in Houston in June 2024. Two Venezuelan migrants, Franklin Pena and Johan Martinez-Rangel, were charged in her death. Her case became a central part of the national debate over border security and immigration enforcement, and Trump has repeatedly invoked her name, including in his March 2025 address to Congress, when he announced a Texas wildlife refuge would be renamed in her honor.
The Corpus Christi rally, held at the Port of Corpus Christi, was part of Trump's final-week midterm campaign swing in Texas, where he was campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Trump held a second rally in Lubbock later the same day, and early voting was already under way in Texas.
