President Donald Trump on Sunday gave Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu his "Complete and Total Endorsement" in a Truth Social letter addressed "To the Great People of Israel," nine days before Israelis vote on Oct. 27.
Trump called Netanyahu "a Great Warrior Prime Minister, and an even greater Partner for Peace in combatting the Islamic Republic of Iran." He warned Tehran: "Unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job."
He added: "If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so." He praised Netanyahu as "Strong, Brave, and Brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including that coming from even Israel, itself," and closed: "BIBI NETANYAHU WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
Netanyahu replied on X minutes later, thanking Trump in Hebrew "for the tremendous support and the joint work" and adding, "Together we will complete the mission!" In an interview with Channel 14, he called their partnership "an asset for the State of Israel" and Trump "the greatest friend we've ever had in the White House." He said his main rival, Gadi Eisenkot, lacks the experience for the job.
Eisenkot, a former army chief whose Yashar party leads recent polls, told Channel 12: "I have tremendous respect for President Trump, but the only ones who will decide are the citizens of Israel."
Four recent polls, by Maariv, Channel 13, Kan and Channel 12, put Yashar ahead of Likud but show neither bloc near the 61 seats needed for a majority, the Jerusalem Post reported. Trump had earlier told Fox News' Trey Yingst it was "most appropriate for me to stay out of Israeli elections, but I may endorse somebody."
