President Donald Trump had warm words for Elon Musk at Tuesday's launch of America.gov, the administration's new AI-powered portal for federal services.
"But I also have to thank the man who initially envisioned the transformation of government through technology and brought us the talent to get the job done. And that's Elon Musk," Trump said. "Great guy."
The White House described America.gov as "a secure, intelligent, and service-oriented single point of entry" through which Americans can sign in, ask questions in plain language, and complete government transactions without navigating multiple agency websites.
The shoutout came the same week Musk joined Trump and other tech leaders — including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and OpenAI president Greg Brockman — at the White House, where the administration announced a voluntary, "morally binding" AI safety accord signed by Google, Meta, Nvidia, Anthropic, Musk's xAI, and OpenAI.
The administration has also moved to replace the term "artificial intelligence" with "Super Intelligence," or SI, in federal usage. Musk caught himself mid-sentence at the White House meeting, correcting "AI" to "SI" — drawing a laugh from the president.
Trump called the America.gov launch one of the most revolutionary debuts of all time.
