Trump in Denton: Iran Is "Ready to Fold Up," War Could End Around the Midterms
Speaking at the Peterbilt Motors facility in Texas, Trump predicted victory "right after the election" — maybe before — and promised energy prices would "rapidly, rapidly" come down.
President Donald Trump told supporters in Denton, Texas, on Thursday night that Iran is "ready to fold up" and predicted the war could end before or shortly after the November midterm elections.
"We have a war going on with a country that will never have a nuclear weapon and is ready to fold up," Trump said at the Peterbilt Motors facility. "We'll win very easily right now. I believe right after the election we'll win, but maybe before the election."
The president said he was "ensuring that Iran will be very quickly ended" and promised that energy prices, which have soared during the war, would be "rapidly, rapidly coming down."
Trump also said the US was trying to be "nice" to Iran's current leadership, adding: "We don't know who the hell to deal with, to be honest with you. Nobody wants to be president."
The remarks came hours after the Pentagon confirmed roughly 9,000 more American troops are heading to the Middle East, potentially bringing three US carrier strike groups to the region by the end of October.
