President Trump turned up the heat on Rep. Ilhan Omar at his Youngstown, Ohio, rally on Monday night, calling the Minnesota Democrat “a disaster” just hours after federal agents searched her Washington-area home. “I don’t know what they’re doing with it, but I can tell you this: she’s a disaster,” Trump told the Covelli Centre crowd, as chants of “deport” rang out in the arena.
The Justice Department confirmed Monday that Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation. Fox News Digital reported the investigation involves Omar’s immigration paperwork. Trump also went after her comments about the U.S. Constitution and her background, telling the crowd she comes from a country without laws and then lectures Americans about their own Constitution. The investigation is ongoing, and a search warrant does not establish wrongdoing.

From the stage, Trump moved from Omar and Somali gang activity in Minnesota — including what the FBI described as a recently thwarted shooting plot at the Mall of America — to Michigan’s Democratic Senate nominee, Abdul El-Sayed. “These people are crazy,” Trump said. “You look at the guy running in Michigan. He’s a jihadist.” He praised El-Sayed’s Republican opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers, and said Somali bandits, Third World gangsters and jihadist sympathizers do not belong in Ohio or in America.

Omar answered earlier Monday on X, writing that for 10 years Trump has targeted her with baseless lies and smear campaigns and calling the search the latest escalation in a campaign of political intimidation. Speaking to reporters Monday afternoon, Trump said he had “nothing to do” with the search of her home. El-Sayed’s campaign did not immediately respond Monday night; last week in Grand Rapids he said opponents point to his name and his faith to distract from voters’ real challenges, adding that his name did not raise anyone’s gas prices and his faith is not why groceries cost more.
Trump was in Youngstown — his second Ohio stop in under two weeks — to campaign for Sen. Jon Husted and gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy, and the rally made clear both races will be fought on immigration, crime and who belongs in America.
