President Donald Trump will make two trips to Iowa before Election Day, starting with a rally in Sioux City on Thursday, Oct. 22, and returning on Nov. 1.
Iowa Republican Party Chairman Jeff Kaufmann announced the visits Thursday morning after speaking with the president.
"I just got off the phone with President Trump," Kaufmann said. "He told me that he will be in Iowa on October 22 and November 1. He is anxious for Iowans to hear his message before they vote."
The Republican National Committee announced the Sioux City rally Thursday night. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and Trump is expected to speak around 6 p.m. An exact venue has not been announced, and attendees must RSVP in advance.
The location of the Nov. 1 stop has not been released.
The visits come as Republicans work to hold key Iowa seats in the midterms. Trump's last public appearance in the state was a January rally at the Horizon Events Center in Clive. Last month, during a White House event announcing a steel mill planned for southeast Iowa, he hinted that he would return.
The Iowa trips add to a midterm swing that this week included rallies in Arizona and Montana.
