Vice President JD Vance says the Trump administration is tearing down what he calls years of institutionalized discrimination against white men.
In an interview aboard Air Force Two with Human Events' Jack Posobiec, Vance declared: "we institutionalized anti-white, anti-male discrimination in this country." He called the approach "totally disgusting," pointing to hiring and college admissions practices under prior administrations.
"If you look at the way the Biden administration discriminated against people in job applications, college applications... it's kind of insane," he said.
Vance tied the comments to the administration's push to overhaul the H-1B visa program, arguing the system has squeezed American workers — particularly young men facing pressures "that just didn't exist" a generation ago.
"There is a lot more work to do, but we are NOT discriminating against people," Vance added, framing the administration's stance as equal treatment under the law rather than favoritism.
The remarks landed squarely in one of America's most heated debates: how institutions should weigh race, sex, and merit. Supporters heard a long-overdue correction; critics heard a White House picking winners by identity in reverse.
What to watch next: concrete H-1B reforms and whether the administration extends the anti-DEI push into new agencies.
