Following the Democrats' victories in the November 3 midterm elections, Sen. Ted Cruz predicted in a video posted on X by @VigilantFox that House Democrats will pursue a relentless impeachment of President Donald Trump.
"I believe the House will impeach Donald Trump if they have the House. They may impeach him multiple times. We will see subpoenas. We will see investigations. I think they will go after President Trump. I think they will go after his family. I think they will go after cabinet members. I expect in the lame duck we will see an impeachment of Pete Hegseth," Cruz said.
Cruz also predicted that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democrats will halt all judicial nominations, keeping any Supreme Court vacancy open for two years, because, in his words, their base is "that radicalized."
The remarks come against a backdrop in which House Democrats had already introduced articles of impeachment against Hegseth before holding the majority. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said last month that one of the first things Democrats would do in the majority is "run Pete Hegseth out of town," and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has said he plans to force a vote on his own Hegseth impeachment resolution in the lame-duck session.
