Getafe have made a formal offer to sign free agent Jadon Sancho on a contract running until the end of the season in June 2027, The Telegraph reported, with total wages of about €400,000. That works out to roughly £10,000 a week, about 4% of the roughly £250,000 a week he was earning at Manchester United. Sancho, 26, is open to the move but wants to meet Getafe coach José Bordalás before making a final decision, the report said.
Sancho has been without a club since his Manchester United contract expired in the summer of 2026. Because he is a free agent, Getafe would pay no transfer fee, and he could sign outside the normal transfer window. United paid Borussia Dortmund £73 million for him in 2021. He later played on loan at Chelsea and Aston Villa, where he scored once, against Fenerbahçe in the Europa League, during the 2025-26 season.
A deal that nearly fell apart
BBC Sport first reported Getafe's formal interest on Oct. 15, and club president Ángel Torres has publicly acknowledged talks with the player. Days later, Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada said on El Chiringuito that the deal had collapsed because Sancho was asking for about €3.5 million, more than Getafe could afford. The new offer reported by The Telegraph would mean a pay cut of about 96% from his United wages.
Getafe are playing in the Europa Conference League this season and recently signed former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal on a free transfer. Bordalás has been asking for reinforcements on the wings. No agreement has been announced, and the move is not official.
