In a clip circulated on Wednesday, former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino dismissed the investigation warnings issued by Democrats after their midterm victories, telling them: "BRING IT ON."
Bongino, now hosting The Dan Bongino Show, was responding to Democrats' vows to use their incoming congressional majorities to investigate President Donald Trump, his family and his administration. In the clip, shared on X on November 4 by Eric Daugherty, Bongino rejected the "lawyer up, clear your schedule" message, saying: "NOBODY's afraid of you. I'm not afraid of you."
He added that the people he speaks with in the administration are not intimidated either, and argued that Americans have heard similar threats before.
The warnings followed the Democrats' victories on November 3, when the party won control of both the House and the Senate. Representative Robert Garcia of California, who is expected to chair the House Oversight Committee when the new Congress is seated in January, posted a two-word message on election night: "Lawyer up." Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, positioned to lead the Senate Finance Committee, posted a single word: "Subpoenas."
Reuters reported that Democrats are expected to use their power to investigate the Trump administration, family and allies and to demand concessions on major legislation once seated in January. Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, in line to chair the House Homeland Security Committee, told Nextgov/FCW that Democrats would investigate what he called the administration's weaponizing of the Department of Homeland Security against Americans, its immigration enforcement practices and its dealings with contractors.
Until the new Congress is seated in January, Republicans still control both chambers. Bongino served as FBI deputy director under Director Kash Patel before announcing his resignation in December 2025 and leaving the bureau in January.
