Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday shared an AI-generated image of a nuclear explosion over Tel Aviv, warning that a leader who cannot confront Iran could bring a "Second Holocaust" — two days before Israelis vote in Tuesday's Knesset election.
The image came in a post by Yuval Blumberg arguing that Israel has "another two years of Trump to finish the work in Iran," and that no prime minister who cannot pick up the phone to President Donald Trump can do that work. Netanyahu shared the post with his own warning attached.
His case is the one he has made throughout the campaign: Iran remains Israel's mortal threat, the work of defeating it is not finished, and only a leader able to confront Tehran — with Washington's backing — can finish it. A leader who cannot, he warns, risks a second Holocaust on Israeli soil.
His rival Gadi Eisenkot accused him of hysterical scare tactics, and other opposition figures, including Yair Golan, condemned the post.
The timing is the final stretch of the campaign. The four latest surveys, closed on October 23, show Eisenkot's Yashar party leading Netanyahu's Likud, with neither bloc holding a majority of the Knesset's 120 seats.
Netanyahu has also warned that Iran or its proxies could attack in an attempt to disrupt Tuesday's vote.
