President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is "100% in favor of Super Intelligence (SI)" and will work with the American states that want to become rich by embracing it, calling the technology "GOLD" and warning that only "foolish leadership" would say no to the riches it brings.
"As President, I am 100% in favor of Super Intelligence (SI), and will work with the many States in the U.S. that want to become RICH by having them. They are GOLD, and only foolish leadership will say 'NO' to the riches they bring!" Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday morning, November 6.
Trump has signed an executive order directing federal departments and agencies to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" instead of "Artificial Intelligence" and "AI" in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports and policy documents, to the extent permitted by law. His administration has also set up a Super Intelligence Force to coordinate federal policy on the technology.
The president's message comes as debates continue over AI development and the construction of data centres, and over the impact of those projects on local communities, including electricity costs, water supplies and neighbourhoods. In Tuesday's midterm elections, voters cited concerns over the rapid expansion of AI data centres as a reason for voting against Republicans, according to MeidasTouch, and candidates who opposed unchecked data-centre buildout won races in several states, including Texas, Michigan and Ohio.
Trump framed his push as building responsibly, protecting residents and creating wealth — and not letting China get ahead of America in the race for the technology.
