President Trump turned one of the oldest attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar into a comedy routine at Friday's get-out-the-vote rally at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach — telling thousands of supporters how the same question was once put to him, and how he answered it. Omar, asked recently whether she was related to her ex-husband, answered "not to my knowledge" — and Trump told the crowd that is exactly the answer a lawyer teaches you to give when you are going to lie.
His own version went like this. Asked early in his political career whether he had ever married his sister, he said, his answer was a flat no: "I swear, I swear. I did not marry my sister." He has two sisters, he told the crowd — "I have one left, Elizabeth, she's great" — and he never proposed to either of them. They are beautiful, he said, but he was never particularly attracted to either of them. "It's not my deal," he finished, to laughter — and the clip has been running ever since, one cut of it passing 27,000 views on X alone while a Facebook reel of the moment drew more than a thousand comments.
The joke was the contrast — a straight no against "not to my knowledge" — and Trump closed the passage on his demand: saying Omar was sworn in under a fake name, he declared that she must immediately resign from Congress. For the exact record: the claim that Omar married her brother is a long-running allegation that remains unproven, and she has denied it for years; the fake-name claim is likewise the president's assertion, made as he campaigned for Byron Donalds and Ashley Moody at what was billed as his final in-person rally before Election Day, with phone rallies across some twenty states to follow. Florida's voters got the closing argument in person: on Tuesday, the country decides.
