Republican Jon Maples leads Democrat Emily Gregory in the November 3 general election rematch for Florida House District 87, taking 50.69% of the vote to Gregory's 49.31%, according to Decision Desk HQ. Maples received 38,673 votes to Gregory's 37,621, a margin of 1,052 votes, or 1.38 percentage points, with more than 95% of votes counted in results updated on November 4.
The contest is a rematch of the March 24, 2026 special election, when Gregory defeated Maples 51.2% to 48.8% and flipped the seat. Gregory was sworn in on April 7, 2026, and is seeking a full two-year term.
Maples, a financial planner and former Lake Clarke Shores town councilman, won the August Republican primary with nearly 77% of the vote and carries the endorsement of President Donald Trump. Gregory, the Democratic incumbent, won the seat in the special election earlier this year.
The district runs along Palm Beach County's coast from Jupiter to Hypoluxo and includes Palm Beach, home to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort. The seat was vacated in August 2025 when Republican Mike Caruso was appointed Palm Beach County clerk of court and comptroller. Caruso had won the seat by 19 points in 2024, and Trump carried the district by about 10 to 11 points in 2024.
A victory for Maples would return the district to Republican control after Gregory's special-election win earlier this year.
