Doctor sentenced to 15 years for $45 million fake-Botox Medicare fraud — Glendale, California — October 29

California doctor Violetta Mailyan, 45, of Glendale, was sentenced on October 29, 2026, to 15 years in federal prison for a Medicare fraud the sentencing judge called 'truly breathtaking in scope and shocking in its duration.' Mailyan owned Healthy Way Medical Center, a Glendale clinic that billed Medicare more than $45 million for Botox injections that were medically unnecessary or never provided at all. The evidence showed she billed for thousands of injections — more than $19 million worth — supposedly given on days her clinic was closed, and billed over $200,000 for treatments in California on a day she was on the beach in Cabo, Mexico. When investigators closed in, she falsified medical records and forged beneficiary signatures, including for a man who was in federal prison at the time she claimed to have treated him. A jury convicted her in May 2026 of nine counts of wire fraud and three counts of obstruction. The court ordered the immediate forfeiture of more than $16 million in seized property — the jury found she had bought two Tesla vehicles, including a Cybertruck, and five pieces of California real estate with the proceeds — and restitution of $32,904,049.41 to Medicare. HHS-OIG and the FBI investigated the case. We are following this case and will update it again as soon as new information comes.
