Update #5 — Melendez-Umanzor Held Without Bond; Wounded Survivor Helped Identify Him

Marcos Melendez-Umanzor, 20, of Hyattsville was held in jail without bond on Thursday, November 5, the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office said. He faces 11 charges, including first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree attempted murder, in the pre-dawn Tuesday shooting that killed Any Davalos, 13, and critically wounded a 14-year-old girl in the 8100 block of 15th Avenue, Langley Park. Court records say the wounded girl gave detectives Melendez-Umanzor's nicknames — "Chele" and "Gringo" — and his phone number, and confirmed from his photograph that he was the shooter; a court-ordered search of his phone put the device in the area of the murder at the time of the murder, the records say.
