TAVARES, FLORIDA, USA — Two men arrested after a man was shot dead outside apartments

A Leesburg man was shot dead outside a Tavares apartment complex in the early hours of Sunday, October 25. Tavares police said officers responded at about 2:20 a.m. to the Caroline Court Apartments at 1000 East Caroline Street, where they found 26-year-old De'Angelo Donta McKnight of Leesburg on a sidewalk. He was taken to AdventHealth Waterman, where he died. Police said two masked individuals approached McKnight outside a residence, shot him, and fled in a vehicle. On Wednesday, October 28, officers arrested Jonathan Erickson Louis, 24, of Eustis, on two counts of accessory after the fact. Louis, who was on felony probation, was taken into custody at the state probation office on County Road 561 and is being held without bond in the Lake County Jail. On Friday, October 30, a second man, 34-year-old Edwin Hypolite Francillon, turned himself in at the Lake County Jail on charges of manslaughter with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm. His arrest affidavit was sealed. We are following this case and will update it again as soon as new information comes.
